Trellis Bioscience, LLC announced today issuance of US patent 7,939,344
This patent discloses the core features of the CellSpotTM antibody discovery platform including the use of labeled nanoparticles for multiplexed microscopic discovery of human antibodies. The method has broad utility in related fields of discovery, including antibody discovery from both human and animal sources as well as from recombinant libraries. The invention enables identification of favorable cells by providing detailed characterization of the products they secrete. As the quality specification becomes more demanding, the frequency of positive cells drops far below the threshold of reliable detection by prior art methods. The microscopic assay technology of the invention enables examination of tens of millions of individual cells.
"The process described in this patent has been the subject of continued refinement and has been developed to a point where our vision of a rapid reliable discovery engine for native human monoclonal antibodies has been realized," Trellis CEO and President Stote Ellsworth said.
